Our mission is to provide support to coffee growing communities by funding programs and projects that seek to:

Alleviate hunger and food insecurity.

  • A recent publication of the Specialty Coffee Association of America (SCAA) entitled "A Blueprint to End Hunger in the Coffeelands" states: "Hunger has no place in our industry and yet it takes an enormous to on the world's coffee-growers.  The Coffeelands Foundation places this issue at the highest level because simply put - the people who grow our coffee should be able to put enough food on the table to sustain them and their families.

Provide access to education.

“Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.”― Nelson Mandela.
  • The Coffeelands Foundation supports programs that enable children to stay in school and provide them with the tools to assume knowledgeable leadership roles in their communities.  Organizations like Limitless Horizons Ixil & Pueblo a Pueblo offer innovative community based education programs.  It is programs like these that provide a vehicle for the youth of today to become the leaders of tomorrow.

The Coffeelands Foundation provides a broad based approach to addressing the needs of coffee communities in ways that are unique and tailored to each individual community.  By working with nonprofits who have the experience and skills to manage community programs - programs designed from within the communities - we believe we can have the greatest impact for meaningful, long lasting change in the coffeeworld.

To fund our work we employ a number of strategies:

  • FOR ROASTERS we have designed a Penny a Pound program that allows participating roasters to add a penny per pound to each green coffee purchase.   Pennies add up and will directly support the schools, health clinics, women's groups, infrastructure development, food programs and much more in the very communities that produce the coffee we love and rely on.  To find out more about the Penny a Pound program and how you can participate click here:  (Link to an email signup)
  • COFFEE RETAILERS can donate directly to the Foundation HERE.  All donations are fully tax-exempt.  Coffeelands Foundation is a charitable 501(c)(3) tax exempt organization.  If your shop would like to participate in some creative fundraising let us know!  We love a collaboration in the benefit of coffee communities.
  • CONSUMERS can also contribute to the work of Coffeelands through direct donations that will keep them in touch with the work we are doing through timely and informative newsletters.

Ultimately it is all of us who enjoy the wonderful coffee we drink daily that are the last link in a long journey of coffee.  Direct support of the communities that grow our coffee is a meaningful way to have greater impact with your purchases.
